TEMPEST specializes in the design, engineering and manufacture of low temperature chilling systems. Low temperature is defined as 20 deg F and below for fluid set points. Systems include single stage mechanical refrigeration to -40 deg F, dual stage systems to -70 deg F and cascade systems down to -80 deg F. For lower temperature requirements we construct liquid nitrogen exchange systems that can achieve temperatures down to -160 deg F.

Size ranges from one ton and up.
Systems are designed with a variety of low temperature fluids including ethylene and propyleneglycol/water mixtures, calcium chloride brine solutions, or engineered low temperature fluids based on temperature range, duty, and client preferences and experiences.

Typical refrigerants for low temperature applications are R-717 (ammonia), R-507a, R-404a, and R-22 for single stage systems, R-507a and ammonia for dual stage systems, and a combination of ultra low, higher-pressure refrigerants for cascade systems including propane, propylene, and carbon dioxide in conjunction with any of the single stage refrigerants.
Self-contained or separate fluid pumping stations can be provided with any system.
